If you live in Coshocton, you already know the shape of a normal summer here. Roscoe Village keeps its own hours down on Whitewoman Street. Clary Gardens sits quietly out on Chestnut. The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum opens when it opens. The courthouse is a place you drive past. Skip's Landing hosts the Saturday farmers market and closes up by lunch. These places are all within a few minutes of each other, but they don't usually operate as a single circuit.
The weekend of July 17 through 19 is the exception. For three days, almost every anchor in town is programmed against every other anchor, most of them free, and the whole thing is coordinated out of the Coshocton County Commissioners' office as the local America 250 celebration.
The point of this post is not that a lot is happening. The point is that this one weekend temporarily turns the county's scattered summer attractions into a walkable circuit, then hands the calendar back to its normal monthly cadence on Monday.
Here is how the three days actually stack, and what still anchors August and September once the crowds thin.
Friday, July 17
The county did not build the Friday schedule from scratch. It slotted America 250 programming into events that were already on the calendar and let them cross-pollinate.
- "The Secret Garden" at Clary Gardens, 588 Chestnut Street, 7 p.m. GhostBox Productions is staging the musical under the covered pavilion inside the 20-acre botanical garden. Tickets are available at ghostboxproductions.com for July 9, 10, 11, 16, & 17. The Friday show is the last of the run, which matters if you have been putting it off. The show is presented as a part of Clary Gardens' 25th Anniversary, so this is not a standalone one-off.
- Cheers to 250 Years Pub Crawl, downtown. Our Town Coshocton's Cheers to 250 Years Pub Crawl is Friday, July 17th, 2026, running through the downtown DORA footprint.
- Coshocton Model Railroad Club, Coshocton County Fairgrounds on 7th Street, 6 to 10 p.m. Coshocton Model Railroad Club opens up to celebrate America250 Located at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds on 7th Street Friday, July 17, 2026, 6-10pm. The club is normally not on most residents' summer radar, which is exactly why it is worth walking through this once.
The Friday lineup is the softest of the three days. If your household is going to pick one evening, and Saturday is the obvious answer, Friday is the one where a pub crawl and a garden musical will feel unhurried.
Saturday, July 18
Saturday is when the weekend becomes a circuit. Everything is walkable if you park once downtown.
Morning belongs to Skip's Landing, the newer riverfront park and pavilion complex the Farmers Market has been using. Saturday morning brings the Coshocton Farmers Market, 9am-3pm, at the new Skip's Landing park and pavilions. Living-history interpreter Dave Barno will be encamped there for guests to talk with. If you have out-of-town family in for the weekend, this is the easy first stop.
Midday, two things run in parallel from noon to 4 p.m.:
- Coshocton County Courthouse tours, free. Take advantage of this rare opportunity to tour the Coshocton County Courthouse for free on Saturday, July 18th as part of Coshocton's America-250 celebration! Tours available 12pm-4pm, with local historian Ken Smailes giving history lectures during this time as well. If you have lived in this county for a decade and never been inside the building, this is your window.
- Historic interpretations at Clary Gardens. More historic interpretations will take place at Clary Gardens 12-4pm.
The Saturday evening anchor is the concert. On Saturday evening, 7 Bridges, an Eagles Tribute band, will perform on Main Street at 7:30pm, with a light show on the courthouse following the concert. Attendees 21 and older can enjoy the DORA, no coolers allowed. The concert is booked as the second date in the Our Town Coshocton Summer Concert Series, which means it is one of only four such nights all year.
One more thing on Saturday, for a specific audience. Crowtown Throwdown Myotonic Goat Show is July 18 & 19 at the Coshocket County Fairgrounds. This is a national show sanctioned by the Myotonic Goat Registry based in Alabama. This is a fun filled show with unique prizes, raffles, food stand, and a smooth and fun show environment. This public is welcome to this event to see the beautiful goats! If you have kids who have been through the fair barn a hundred times, a national-level fainting goat show is a very different experience.
Sunday, July 19
Sunday is the day that would normally be quiet. Instead it is the day the paid attractions all go free.
- Historic Roscoe Village, free tours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free tours of Historic Roscoe Village will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. featuring the various historical buildings in the recreation of a canal era town.
- Monticello III horse-drawn canal boat rides, free. The boat is normally a paid experience out at Lake Park.
- Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, free noon to 4 p.m. The festivities continue Sunday with free admission to Historic Roscoe Village's Canal Town Discovery Walk, Monticello III Horse Drawn Canal Boat rides and free admission to the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum, where a special exhibit commemorating the museum's 95th year, as well as America's 250th, will be in the upstairs exhibit room. This is the 95th anniversary exhibit, which will not be up forever.
- Three Rivers Car Show, Court Square and Main Street, noon to 4 p.m. Three Rivers Car Show is from noon to 4 p.m. around the Coshocton Court Square and along Main Street.
- Live music at the artPARK. Jeremy Timmons performing 3:30-4:30pm, Hi-Fi Rendezvous 4:30-6pm at the artPARK! The group mixes American Songbook standards with Latin and instrumental favorites. The band is comprised of local musicians dedicated to keeping jazz music alive in Coshocton County.
The Sunday sequence is the one that rewards residents most. You can move from a canal boat to a museum to a car show to live jazz on the same afternoon without moving your car. That does not happen any other Sunday of the year.
What the weekend actually costs
Most of the programming is free. The county worked the budget in public: Mary Beck, administrator for Coshocton County Commissioners, said the county will receive $2,500 from the Coshocton Foundation and $4,520 from the Coshocton Visitors Bureau to help fund events. That is roughly $7,000 of outside money seeded across the whole schedule. It explains why the concert, the courthouse, the museum, Roscoe Village, and the canal boat can all waive fees on the same weekend without any single organization eating the cost.
For a household, the practical read is this: the two things worth paying for are dinner and "The Secret Garden" tickets. Everything else is a matter of showing up.
After the crowds thin
Once the three days are over, Coshocton's summer decompresses back into its familiar shape. If you missed the weekend, or if you want a quieter version of the same anchors, here is what still runs.

The Coshocton Sunflower Festival at Coshocton KOA Holiday opens its first weekend the same weekend as the concert series August date. Mark your calendars for an exciting day of fun and learning at the Coshocton Sunflower Festival Family Day! Join us on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 12 PM to 6 PM. For our 9th year, we'll have over 50 varieties of sunflowers in the field. One thing the festival is candid about that a lot of residents miss: Sunflowers are an agricultural crop and therefore subject to weather, growing conditions and ripening variables. We cannot guarantee that the sunflowers will bloom on a particular date, so prepare to be flexible by 7-10 days in your visit. If you drive out for Family Day expecting a full yellow field, you may catch it early. The main bloom window sits behind Family Day, not on it.
The Coshocton Farmers Market at Skip's Landing keeps going after the America 250 weekend. Coshocton Farmers Market is every Saturday, May – October, from 8:30am – 12pm! Find locally grown produce, baked goods, homemade crafts, and much more!

The rhythm from here is monthly, not weekend-heavy. One concert night in August. One in September. A Saturday farmers market. A Sunflower Festival weekend that stretches into the last blooms in early fall.
