From noon to 4 p.m. on two Saturdays this month, October 10 and October 17, Christy Beach will be on the front porch of Humble Heart Country Gifts at 18 E. 6th St. in Dresden. Beach is a basket repair specialist. Bring her a basket that needs work and she'll do a simple cash-and-carry repair. She'll also look over baskets and tell you what repairs they need. In a village that markets itself as home to the World's Largest Basket, a repair stand might not sound like news. But a single line in Longaberger's own policy makes these two afternoons more useful than they first look.
The Repair Policy Starts at November 2019
Xcel Brands, a New York company, bought the Longaberger brand in November 2019. That date now separates baskets the brand will stand behind from baskets it won't. On its official FAQ page, Longaberger says products bought through Longaberger.com or QVC.com since November 2019 are guaranteed against manufacturing defects. Then comes the line that matters for anyone with an older basket: "Unfortunately, we cannot offer to repair or replace Longaberger branded products purchased before November 2019."
The same FAQ says today's brand has no connection to the former Longaberger Company, CVSL, JRJR Networks, or the old multi-level marketing organization. So if your basket came from the years when Longaberger was a Dresden company run by its founding family, the brand on the label today has no repair program for it. Depending on when the basket was made, that can cover a weave from the late 1990s or a piece picked up in 2009. Both kinds of dated pieces are listed for sale right now by one Main Street shop.
For those older baskets, repairs and upkeep have moved to independent shops within a few blocks of the giant basket.
Three Kinds of Upkeep, All on Main Street and Sixth
Taking care of an older basket usually means one of three jobs: fixing damage, protecting the base, or adding to a collection. Each job has a Dresden shop that handles it.
Repair. Humble Heart's porch sessions handle actual repair work. According to Destination Dresden, the visitor site run by the Dresden Community Association, the setup is cash-and-carry repairs plus evaluations of baskets that may need more involved work. The listing doesn't describe what a typical repair involves or what it costs, so plan on bringing cash and asking at the porch.
Protection. Dresden's Baskets & More sits beside the World's Largest Basket at 506 Main St. It has served what it calls "the basket community" since 1998 and is open year-round. Its main line is plastic protectors made to fit Longaberger baskets, and it bills itself as having Dresden's largest selection of them. It also sells cloth liners in a range of colors and patterns, plus pottery, wrought iron and locally made crafts. More than 10,000 items are listed online, with shipping available. Protectors and liners don't fix damage. They're the parts that keep a basket's base and interior from wearing down in daily use.
Replacement and additions. Dresden & Company describes itself as a Dresden-based business selling handmade baskets and home accessories through independent proprietors. Its Welcome Center is at 416 Main St. The connection to the original weaving tradition is documented. In November 2019, ABC6 reported that Dresden & Company had contracted to weave Longaberger-branded baskets at its Dresden facility. A 2020 Times Recorder story described the company carrying on local basketmaking. Today, Longaberger's FAQ says, in the brand's own words, that "Xcel Brands will continue to make handmade baskets in Dresden, OH."
Two more Main Street storefronts carry basket stock. The Patio Shops at 608 Main St. sells handcrafted Longaberger baskets, pottery and accessories. The Longaberger General Store at 600 Main St. is a separate business that promotes the brand's core baskets and collaborations.

The Repair Days Fall on Dresden's Busiest October Weekends
Both repair Saturdays line up with something else happening in or near the village. If you're bringing a basket in, you can fit the rest of the day around it.
- Saturday, October 10. Always Louise Laser Engraved Gifts & More is holding its Fall Market at 701 Main St. from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Destination Dresden lists vendors selling woodworking, baked goods, mums and pumpkins, goat milk soap, leatherwork, embroidery, permanent jewelry and hand-turned ink pens. Kids can paint a pumpkin for free while supplies last. The market closes at 3 and Beach's porch hours start at noon, so the two overlap by three hours. The Buzz has called Always Louise one of Dresden's newest shops, owned by Danielle Buck.
- Saturday, October 17. It's the second porch session, and the first day of the 22nd Annual Farm Show presented by Country Crossroads Education of Yesterday. The show is at 3685 Cass Irish Ridge Road, where SR 60 meets SR 16. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 18, and the group asks for a donation when you park. Its stated mission is to preserve old machinery and show younger generations how things were done in the past. The farm show and the basket repairs are both about keeping old equipment and craftsmanship in use, and they run the same afternoon.
- Tuesday, October 20. This is the last farmers market of the season from the Friends of the Dresden Branch Library, 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the library, 816 Main St. The market runs on the first and third Tuesdays from June through October, so October 20 closes out the 2026 season.
- Saturday, November 14. The Dresden Community Association hosts Ladies' Night Out: Vegas Style from 3 to 6 p.m., with in-store specials, refreshments, giveaways and casino-themed fun at participating shops. An after-party follows at American Legion Post 399, 1384 Main St. By then the repair days will be over. It's a good chance to pick up a protector or liner for a basket you had fixed in October.
Halloween Shows How the Shops Treat Basket Care
Dresden & Company's seasonal Boo Basket Bundle pairs a basket with a basket protector and a free Halloween napkin. Buyers can pick a Halloween weave or the classic Ash Gray or Wheat. A local shop selling a protector with a new holiday basket shows the same thinking behind the repair days and Baskets & More's protector wall. In Dresden, a basket is sold expecting years of use, and the shops plan for keeping it in good shape over those years.
The Dresden Community Association groups these shops as member businesses: Humble Heart, Longaberger, Dresden & Company, The Patio Shops, Always Louise and Dresden's Baskets & More. Its October promotion invites people to add to a basket collection or browse for seasonal and Halloween finds along Main Street. The same group was one of five organizations to win a 2026 Muskingum County Tourism Development Grant for the American Basket Festival held July 11. The July festival brings in visitors. The October repair days serve people who already have baskets at home.
Before You Carry a Basket Down to Sixth Street
The details posted so far are basic. Repairs are cash-and-carry, Beach will judge what each basket needs, and the hours are noon to 4 p.m. on October 10 and 17. Humble Heart's Facebook page, facebook.com/humbleheartdresden, is listed as the place for updates. If a basket needs more than a same-day fix, the evaluation should tell you what kind of work it needs.
If your basket was bought from Longaberger.com or QVC.com after November 2019, the brand's own guarantee against manufacturing defects may cover it. Check that before paying for a repair. For anything older, the brand's FAQ says it won't repair or replace it, which leaves the shops in this post.
